In The Tree Tops – Tutorial #462

Ahhhh Fall, sig. . . . . . . .

Gotta love it!   Hues of Earthy Tones, Browns, Gold, Orange, Red, Yellows and Greens.  Makes me want to stay in the kitchen preparing and putting food away for the up coming winter.   Or better yet, take a long walk in the woods.  Blues skies above, crunchy leaves under foot.  Yep, I love, love Fall and I love Ohio this time of year.   You should see all of our road side stands just bursting at the seams with pumpkins and gourds.  Also, I cannot drive down a road here in my neck of the woods without seeing a sign for a corn maze or hayride.   Fall is here in full force.    I guess you know where the inspiration for this emboss resist card came from.   Grab a cup of apple cider and check out the tutorial below.  Better yet, how about grabbing those stamps and give it a whirl?

Below is a photo of the view in front of my house taken just a few short minutes ago.  If you follow this blog you have seen this scene many times.  My banner at the top of this blog is a pastel painting I did a few years back of the same view.  I love the way the sun shines on the back of the barn in the morning turning the gray barn into a lovely shade of peach.  🙂  It’s funny the things the heart finds warming.  I seem to be babbling this morning, lol.  So unlike me, not!

Stamped the Stampin’ Up! Season of Friendship tree 2 times by loading my stamp first with Versamark and then loading it with Soft Suede ink before stamping it.   Repeated for the second tree.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped a 3rd tree by loading my stamp with Versamark and then Chocolate Chip ink before stamping it.   Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Added a couple of Stampin’ Up! Season of Friendship leaves by loading the stamp with Versamark and then More Mustard ink before stamping it.  Heat embossed the leaves using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Added more leaves by loading the stamp with Versamark and then Cajun Craze ink before stamping it.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped the flourish from the Stampin’ Up! set Season of Joy using Versamark only.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Sorry, you cannot see where I stamped and embossed the flourish.  They will show up in the next step.

Brayered Marina Mist ink starting at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Not Quite Navy at the top of the card stock, not covering the Marina Mist ink entirely.

Wiped the ink off of the embossed images gently with a paper towel.

Sponged Basic Black ink around the edges of the card stock.

Ripped the bottom edge off of the main image panel.

On a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock, stamped 3 Stampin’ Up! Autumn Splendor leaves using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the leaves in entirely using So Saffron ink.  Added More Mustard marker.

Added Cajun Craze marker to the tips of the leaves.

Colored over the entire leaves to blend the colors using a So Saffron marker.  No need to worry about staying in the lines since we will be cutting these images out.  🙂

Colored in the veins of the leaves using a More Mustard marker.

Cut the 3 leaves out using Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.  Love, love these scissors!

Added 2 Soft Suede panels (5″ x 6.5″ and 4″ x 4.75″) and 1 Basic Black panel (4.75″ x 6.25″)  Also added Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.
