Mystical Tree – Tutorial #437

Hey There, I’m back safe and sound from this year’s Stampin’ Up! Convention.  If I was not a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator already, I would become one just to get to go to this event every year.   Can I say over the top fun!!!  Stamping, friends, recognition/awards, totally wonderful products and ideas.

Below is a photo of myself with my Up Lines and Side Lines (I’m the fourth person from the left).   Our fabulous team was up on stage celebrating the growth of our teams during the recruiting march.

It is so nice working with a company that rewards and recognizes your achievements.  Stampin’ Up! ROCKS!!!!

Brayered Pacific Point ink on the top and bottom of a 3.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Concord Crush ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Pacific Point ink entirely.

Sponged and oblong spot of Pacific Point ink at the left hand side at the bottom.  This will be the shadow for the tree.

Stamp the Lovely as a Tree stamp in the middle of the shadow area using Basic Black ink.

Color the trunk and bottom leaves in with a Sahara Sand marker.

Colored the rest of the leaves using a Pear Pizzazz marker.

Tapped in a bit of Old Olive marker at the bottom half of the leaf area.

Added White Gel pen highlights on the left side of the leafy area and the left side of the tree trunk.

Added Basic Black marker to the right side of the tree trunk.

Cut 2 layers of Concord Crush, 2 layers of Old Olive and 1 layer of Pocket of Posies Designer Series paper.  Used the corner round the left 2 corners of all the layers accept the largest Concord Crush layer.

Stamped the flowers from the Vintage Vogue set at the bottom of the card stock using Old Olive ink.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Basic Black ink around the outside edges of the card stock.

Stamped the French Filigree back ground stamp on the right hand side of the main image panel using Bashful Blue ink.

Assembled my card and added Old Olive Ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be FABULOUS!

HOW TO BE GRACIOUS

Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen
her excitement – not even her parent’s nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the
  best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s
new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she
refused.  ”Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress,
and I’m wearing it,” she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ”Never mind
sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.”

A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another
  gorgeous dress for her mother.

When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ”Aren’t
you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another
occasion where you could wear it.”

Her mother just smiled and replied, ”Of course I do, dear…..I’m
wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night BEFORE the wedding.”

(NOW I ASK YOU – IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHO  WOULDN’T ENJOY THIS STORY?

Got Carried Away and a Blog Candy Winner

Hey All!

Above is just the stamp portion of my new Stampin’ Up! catalog order!  Holy Mackeral, so many stamps so little time.  I drove home yesterday from Maryland and found these waiting for me on my porch.  Mr. Brown is so good to me, lol.   Feel free to show this picture to your hubby so your orders look small, grin.

Anyway, I had time to take my stamps out of the boxes, but no time to play with them.   You see, I am packing and leaving today for the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah for the week.    My dear husband’s head is probably spinning from me coming in and emptying my suitcase only to refill it the next day.  But I’m so excited to go to convention!

I just wanted you to know where I’m at just in case I don’t have time to post while I am gone.  Hang tight blog fans, I will have some great new projects coming up with the new stamps I just received.  I’ve got at least a dozen projects floating around in this head of mine already.  I’m so inspired and excited!

Just in case you have Zindorf withdrawal while I am away, lol, CLICK HERE for a link to my past tutorials.  That should keep you busy for a while since there are over 400 of them now.  🙂

Before I run, I have a blog candy winner to announce.  The winner of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Happiness Stamp set is. . . . .  . .

LuAnn Kessler!  Congratulations LuAnn, the random number generator was smiling on you this morning, please e-mail your mailing address to me at [email protected] and I will pop this set in the mail to you.

Thanks everyone for playing along.

Now I must go and pack.

May your week be full of of adventure, fun and giggles.

Until my next post. . . .  .

Hugs,

Michelle

Owings Mills, Maryland

Hey All, I’m still having a great time teaching here in Owings Mills, Maryland.  Just look at the friends I have made.  I want to share this story with you.  It sure does make one think.  🙂

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers .

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else—the small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

‘Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’  The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.’

Jelly Fish Invasion & Some Blog Candy to Boot!

Hey All,

Well I made it to Baltimore, Maryland today.   It only took about 8.5 hours in the rain by car.  After the rainy drive however, I decided to treat myself to a little side trip and went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore.   Well worth every penny spent on admission.  I have some photos to share with you from the Aquarium, but first how about some BLOG CANDY!!!  You know, the candy that isn’t fattening, woohooo!

How about a little Christmas in July?  I have a great Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Holiday Happiness to give away.

All you have to do to enter for a chance to win is leave a comment on this blog post telling me to enter you.  If you are getting this blog update via e-mail, please CLICK HERE and then leave a comment on the actual blog post.  No e-mail entries, please.

I will select the winner using a random number generator on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.  Good Luck to Everyone!!!

Now on with the Aquarium photos.   As you see I was quite fasinated by the jelly fish.  In fact the jelly fish room was my favorite out of all that I seen.  How awesome are they?

Other sights seen.  As you can tell I didn’t take a lot of photos of actual fish.  They were too quick, swimming to and fro, so my photos of them came out blurry.

Well it is time to hit the sack so I can be fresh for my Brayer Workshops tomorrow.

May your weekend be out of this world wonderful!

Until my next post.. . . . . .

Technique Time (Acetate & Tissue) – Tutorial #435

Check it out, today’s tutorial uses the Acetate & Tissue technique.  This is a fun technique that makes such a unique background.

Let’s get started. .. . . . . .  .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Just Believe
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Baja Breeze & Tempting Turquoise
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Stazon Jet Black, Re-inkers Tempting Turquoise & Baja Breeze
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! White Gel Pen, Crystal Effects, Baja Breeze Seam Binding and Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Window Sheet (Acetate), Tissue Paper
Techniques: Acetate & Tissue

Want a free copy of the new Summer Mini Catalog ?  E-mail your mailing address to [email protected] and I will get one in the mail to you.   Are you getting inspiration from this blog?   One way you can help support it is to order your Stampin’ Up products through me.   Click HERE to place an order.    Want to become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator , receive a 20% discount on product and earn instant income on orders?  Consider being part of my Stampin’ Up Team and start your own business or become a Hobby Demo just for the discount.  Click HERE for more information.

Stamp the Just Believe plant stamp on a 3″ square piece of Acetate (Stampin’ Up! window sheet) using Jet Black StazOn ink.

Let the ink dry and then flip the acetate over so the stamp side is facing down.   Put Crystal Effects on the un-stamped side of the acetate.

Added a few drops of Baja Breeze re-inker and tap your finger in it to move it around to the areas you want it in.

Added a drop of Tempting Turquoise re-inker on the top left side and tapped it with my finger to move it around a bit leaving the bottom of the acetate light.

Crumple a piece of tissue paper and then put it on top of the reinker.

Let it dry and then trim the edges so the tissue is flush with the acetate.  Mounted it on a piece of Whisper White card stock.

Added white gel pen to make the plants pop.

Added Whisper White, Basic Black, Baja Breeze and Tempting Turquoise panels.  Added Baja Breeze Seam Binding and Basic Black Taffeta ribbon.   Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ x 4.25″.

May your day be full of wonders.

Until my next post.. . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle
