Got Colored Pencils

Hello there,

Do you have colored pencils?  It is probably hard to find a paper crafter who doesn’t at least have a set of Crayola Colored Pencils.  Today I used a Paint Thinner and color pencil technique to color in my stamped images from the Stampin’ Up! set Remarkable You on Basic Black paper.  This is  such a simple and great technique which gives beautiful results.  This technique has been around for a really long time and I keep forgetting about it.  So many techniques so little time, lol.

I hope my card has inspired you to get your colored pencils out.

Remarkable You Pond – Stampin’ Up! Card

Remarkable You Pond

What!  This is my last post and project of 2017.  That makes me a bit sad, yet excited at the same time about all of the projects I have swirling around in my head for 2018.

I’ve decided to make 2018 the year of simplifying my life.  Getting rid of things in the house that I’ve not used for years.  Which includes crafting supplies, ugh, shoot me now, lol.  I find I’m not as stressed when I focus on what is really important and my mind doesn’t work well in my craft space when things are not in order.  So purging unneeded items is what 2018 is all about for me.  What resolutions have you decided to make for the new year?

About today’s project. . . . .

I decided to end 2017 with a reflection card, which is really one of my favorite scenes to make.  There is this perfect flower in the Remarkable You stamp set that makes a great lotus flower and focal image in my scene today.  Add the lovely  color combo of Tempting Turquoise and Cajun Craze along with a piece of my all time favorite Designers series paper of 2017, Foil Frenzy and poof a beautiful card to send to a loved one.

Hummingbird Silhouette – Stampin’ UP! Card

Hummingbird silhouette

Hello there,

Some of my favorite cards are creations that have silhouette images.  The images can be so striking against a bright sky and also these projects can be so quick to make, BONUS!

Before I headed to my craft room, I was having my morning tea out on the deck watching the hummingbirds come to the feeders when one of the little birds decided to fly up to my face and just look at me.  I had the feeling it was saying thank you for the food but at the same time I was wondering if I was going to lose an eye it was so close to my face, lol.  When it flew away I knew what the main image of my card scene would be today. Do you also get inspired by things you see or what is happening around you?  It’s so nice to put it down on a card or scrapbook page and makes your projects that much more meaningful.

There is something peaceful about a pond with waterlilies.  I made mine pop by putting the pale yellow flowers against a dark background.  Be careful not to be skimpy with your ink when creating your backgrounds it really makes a difference.  🙂

Floating in the Water – Stampin’ Up! Card

I’m using the beautiful, Remarkable You stamp set this morning.   So many big, bold, wonderful flowers in this set to choose from that won’t get lost in your scene.

I picked this flower because it looks like a water lily to me and that is just where I put it, in the water.  I also gave it a reflection for realism.  To add a bit of charm, I used the Curvy Corner Trio Punch on the corners of the main image panel and the Rose Red panel behind it.  Those two punches look great together.

Anyhow, you end up with a beautiful creation to send to someone special.  I hope you are inspired to get some stamping time in today.  🙂  It really is good therapy for the soul.
