Today’s card was inspired by, I must confess, my overgrown garden just outside my craft room window.  So many birds rummaging around in it looking for seed pods left from the Summer.  We don’t have Blue Birds here in Ohio but, there is no reason why I can’t put one on my card, right?  I think it looks great combined with the grays and browns in the scene, nice color combo for sure.

Autumn Drip Background – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello Stampers,

Yesterday I created a Winter card and felt I needed to give Autumn a fair shake by creating today’s card, which definitely screams Fall Y’all!  This card is 4″ x 9″ and fits in a regular old #10 size business envelope you can pick up just about any where.  This size card takes one stamp to mail, yet makes a big statement.  :). Gotta love it!

To me, the in focus foreground (bird, leaves and branches) on this card are totally brought to life by the out of focus hand made background.  You will be amazed at how easy and fun the background is to make by using, what I call, the my drip technique.

We all know my favorite stamp images are trees but the second runner up is certainly bird images.  Just like the ones found in the sweet, Stampin’ Up! Free As a Bird Stamp Set.

I especially love birds because you can color your bird images any way you want with any color combo that tickles your fancy. My bird today is sporting what I would call parakeet colors.  :). I love it’s bright colors in this twilight scene.

Free as a Bird Wreath – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello Stampers,

I’m often asked how I come up with my card ideas, well I start with an idea and then think about the stamp sets I have to pull the idea together.  What I will put in the back ground, middle ground and fore ground.

I combined a couple of stamp sets to create today’s project.  I knew I wanted to create a wreath (middle ground) so I pulled out the Stampin’ Up! First Frost stamp set which has a great twig stamp perfect to pull off the wreath look with.  Added some images from the new Free as a Bird stamp set for decoration (fore ground) and the Crackle Paint background stamp for the panel the wreath is on.

Breaking my scenes down to Background, middle ground and fore ground helps my mind from getting overwhelmed.  I pick out the stamped images for those areas one at a time.
