I’m very excited for the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog to be released tomorrow June 4th, I bet you are too!  I’m also excited to see some of my favorite stamp sets had not retired and are being carried forward into the new catalog, like the set I used today, Country Road.

I’m live in a little farm town in Ohio where tall grass is a very common site along our roads.  Give those grasses a great sky and they can just sparkle from the light hitting them.  I hope you have experienced this too.

I decided to go none traditional with my sky for this one and used shades of purple.  You could  to use another color family such as orange or blue also for the sky.

Today I dressed up my Basic Black background panel with Basic Black dies cut from the Stampin’ Up! Flourish Thinlits Dies Set so, it is black on black.  This doesn’t translate well in pictures but it is gorgeous in person and a wonderful way to add interest to your card without taking the spot light off of your main image panel.

I have another card for you made with the new Stampin’ Up! Country Road Stamp Set, item #147469.  This card most definitely has the laid back, down home feel that is so comforting to some of us laid back peps.

I created a weathered clapboard background for the wagon wheel to rest against to add to that country feel. I found the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, item 144177 to be an excellent layer in the finished card.  I hope it inspires you to get inky today.  🙂

Black Beauty – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

Did you get to watch the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to see Justify win the Triple Crown?  It was so exciting!  What a fabulous horse.  Anyhow, all the derby going ons put me in the mood to stamp a horse card.

After finishing this card, I smacked myself in the head (really!) and wondered why I didn’t stamp the horse in brown so it looked like our Triple Crown winner.  It turned out nice anyway with a lovely black horse.

Have you figured out where the horse image came from?  It’s from the new Stampin’ Up! Country Road stamp set.  I easily omitted the weathervane portion of the stamp to just use the horse (I’ll show you how in my tutorial).  Ah, now that really gets your mind working on what all you can do with the horse, right?  I’m stoked and can’t wait to come up with more scenes.
