If you have followed my blog for any length of time you know I am a tree hugger in a big way. I cannot get enough of them!
In fact, I have a bit of tree knowledge for you today. Actually it is a bit of info you may never use in your entire life, lol. Did you ever wonder why there is a lone tree in the middle of a working farm field? You see this time and again if you are in farm country. There has been a time or two when I pondered the reason for this? Was it because the farmer needed shade during his long hours in the field? Or maybe a place to seek shelter during a storm? I found it was neither of those reasons. Although they have been used for those reasons.
Back before heavy farm equipment (horse and plow times) when they wanted to clear a field they would chain two trees together and ratchet the chains tighter and tighter until one of the trees gave way. In the end, there was a lone tree who was the last survivor. The farmer certainly could have chopped that last tree down but maybe he thought of how beautiful it was or how nice the shade would be on a hot day. 🙂 Makes me smile when I see one now. How strong that tree must be!
Now about my card creation today, I used the new Stampin’ Up! set Golden Afternoon. The large tree image looks like two trees intertwined as if embracing each other. 🙂
I made my background really dark so I could make the tree appear in bloom and have it really pop!
