The Open Sea II – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #604

Hey There,

This is my second free tutorial this week using the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets The Open Seas and Clockworks.  These two sets together make such great masculine cards.  I don’t know about you, but masculine cards are hard for me to come up with.  With Father’s Day approaching this card will come in handy.

My turtorial today features a little bit of direct to paper, watch out this technique is addictive.  Check out the tutorial below.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Clockworks (item #127292) and The Open Sea (item #123032)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and DSP from the Stampin’ Up! Regals Patterns Stack

Ink: Stampin’ Up!Basic Black, Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Pacific Point and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponge, White Gel Pen, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Argyle Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine

Stamped the Seagulls stamp from the Stampin’ Up! Clockworks set using Soft Sky ink on a 3″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Smeared the Soft Sky ink pad behind the stamp image.

Stamped the image again using Marina Mist ink and then smeared Marina Mist ink behind the image.

Stamped the image a third time using Pacific Point ink.

Smeared Soft Sky ink at the bottom of the card stock to create the water.

Lightly smeared Marina Mist ink in at the bottom of the card stock.

Smeared Pacific Point ink in at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the Ship using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Added lines of ink using the very edge of the Pacific Point ink pad under the ship to blend the Black water lines into the Pacific Point ink.

Added White Gel Pen to the sails.

Sponged Basic Black ink around the edges of the card stock.

Cut a 2 7/8″ x 5.5″ piece of Basic Black card stock and cut a “v” out of the bottom.

Embossed it using the Argyle embossing folder and Big Shot Machine.

Cut a 4.75″ x 6.25″ piece of DSP and ripped the edge off of the bottom.

Embossed the DSP using the Argyle embossing folder and Big Shot Machine.  Note:  the paper does not all fit in the folder.  There will be a edge around the DSP that has not embossing.

Smeared the Marina Mist ink pad over the DSP to darken the embossing a bit so it shows up better.

Added the Basic Black piece and then added a Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon and adhered it to the back of the DSP.  Slipped a shorter piece of ribbon under the other and tied a knot.

Added a 5″ x 6.5″ Basic Black card base and then my main image was added using Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up.

Her is the finished card.

May you have a safe journey today and every day.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs!
